U.S. House Lawmakers Unveil Draft Crypto Market Structure Bill

U.S. lawmakers have taken a significant step toward establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets. The House Financial Services Committee and House Agriculture Committee jointly released a discussion draft of legislation aimed at providing clarity for the crypto industry. The bill seeks to balance consumer protection with innovation, addressing long-standing regulatory gaps.

Representative French Hill, chairman of the financial-services panel, emphasized the legislation’s potential to deliver "much-needed regulatory clarity." His counterpart on the agriculture committee, Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson, highlighted the bill’s dual focus on fostering innovation while closing oversight loopholes. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is expected to play a key role in the proposed regulatory structure.
